What is Morse Code?
Morse code is a method used in telecommunication to encode text characters as standardized sequences of two different signal durations, called dots and dashes (or dits and dahs). It was developed by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail in the 1830s and 1840s.
Although initially developed for the electrical telegraph, Morse code has been used in numerous ways over the years, including radio communication, as a training aid for people with disabilities, and even as a form of creative expression.

Morse Code Conventions
- A dot (.) is a short signal
- A dash (-) is a long signal (three times as long as a dot)
- The space between parts of the same letter is equal to one dot
- The space between letters is equal to three dots
- The space between words is equal to seven dots (represented by / in our translator)
